6th Annual Conference. June 04, 2014. San Francisco

It’s no secret that businesses are turning to the cloud to run their critical business applications but also to store and manage business-critical data. However, it’s still unclear for most organizations how SaaS applications, such as Google Apps and Salesforce, protect their data. In this session, Jeff Erramouspe, CEO & President, Spanning discusses how organizations can avoid SaaS data loss and minimize the risk of lost productivity, non-compliance and more, with cloud-to-cloud backup.

Specifically, he’ll share:

Enterprise adoption of Cloud Computing typically involves some form of hybrid Cloud interoperability between internal systems and public Cloud services. Patterns of interoperability generally fall into one of three hybrid models: Functional Distribution, Lifecycle Distribution, and Workload Distribution. In this session patterns for each of the three models are explored in terms of relevant Use Cases, typical Architectures, and strategies for Interoperability.

Many organizations have turned to cloud-based Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) to optimize developer productivity and increase business agility. However for all the benefits that each of these solutions can bring an organization, each faces real—but avoidable—limitations when used in isolation. On one hand IaaS requires too much configuration to offer the greatest benefit for increasingly agile development teams. At the same time PaaS doesn’t offer the customization and granular management IT needs to manage highly complex or legacy systems.

The only dominant force in the enterprise cloud computing market today is confusion. While many organizations can provide real-world, enterprise-class use cases, many more are still in the early stages of adopting public, private, or hybrid cloud approaches. For cloud computing to be successful in the enterprise, the business impact of how the cloud helps enterprises grow their business innovation and make an IT transformation must be understood.
