Meeting Meaningful Use and Collaborative Care Goals by Adopting Cloud-based Solutions
Session Details
Session Abstract
Cloud-based solutions are progressively taking over legacy software systems. Driven by provider consolidation, government financial incentives, along with the adoption of collaborative care models like Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and the Patient Centered Medical Homes (PCMH), providers need more flexibility to support rapidly expanding access to data in clinical systems and scaling applications. Combine this with exponential expansion of data storage needs, and the need to create anytime, anywhere, any device access, and the factors that are increasing interest in cloud solutions in healthcare is already in place. With capital budgets tight, and IT staffs at provider organizations needing to focus on a series of upcoming new strategic initiatives it is easy to see how healthcare organizations can benefit from removing upfront software licensing fees, mitigating maintenance costs, overcoming departmental silos, improving collaboration and data sharing with referring physicians, - all with minimal downtime. Yet healthcare organizations still hesitate over concerns of privacy and security, and "losing control" of their data. This session will explore where the real opportunities are in cloud adoption in healthcare, the associated risks, and practical strategies for managing these to enable positive change. We will also discuss how vendors can stay competitive and fresh in this regulatory landscape and how they can meet the needs of large and small healthcare providers now and in the future.
Learning objectives:
- Learn strategies for driving improved outcomes through Meaningful Use
