In this interview style presentation, Karl Strohmeyer, North America Group Vice President and Maggie Chan Jones, Senior Vice President of North America Marketing will discuss the increasingly important role of the network in today’s distributed data center and cloud environments and how an organization’s network infrastructure can impact end to end application performance. Healthcare organizations are facing exponential data and application growth and increasingly complex access requirements driven in part by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Healthcare IT staffs are responsible for delivering mission-critical applications to all end users and in a fast, secure, scalable and cost efficient manner. IT teams need to configure their networks and communications strategies to deliver optimal performance for each application and cloud solutions for PACS management, EHRs, mHealth and many other critical tools are becoming the most logical answer. With the ever-changing regulatory environment, rapid technology advancements, and mounting cost pressures investing in a secure, scalable and agile communications infrastructure has never been more important.

As head of marketing for the North America region at Level 3 Communications, Maggie and her team are responsible for defining the regional market segment strategy, creating customer-focused marketing campaigns, and driving return on marketing investments to deliver financial results.

Before joining Level 3, Maggie spent over seven years at Microsoft Corporation. Most recently, she was the director of U.S. Cloud Services and Office 365. Her team led the launch and growth of the Office 365 business, one of the fastest growing products in Microsoft’s history, in the United States. Maggie was also a frequent speaker on Microsoft’s commercial cloud services strategy at third-party events. Prior to that role, Maggie held several leadership and marketing positions in product marketing, product management, and channel strategy and development at Microsoft, Sun Microsystems and ADIC.

Originally from Hong Kong, Maggie received her undergraduate degree in business management from Binghamton University and also holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) degree from Cornell University, where she is featured on the Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management website.

Karl currently serves as North America Group Vice President for Level 3 Communications. Prior to this role, Mr. Strohmeyer served as senior vice president of Level 3’s Mid Market Sales, where he managed segment activity for business customers below the Fortune 1000. He has also managed Level 3’s global carrier channel, including international and domestic carrier, and wireless segments. Formerly, Mr. Strohmeyer served as executive vice president of corporate development and executive vice president of operations with NetRail, Inc., with responsibility for growth and operations of a 46-city U.S. network. He held various positions with BellSouth including development manager, assistant market development manager and national accounts assistant executive. Mr. Strohmeyer holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Hampshire and a master’s degree in international business from Mercer University.
