The regulation was also designed to permit pharmacies to receive, dispense, and archive these electronic prescriptions. The main goals of this regulation were to reduce paperwork for pharmacies and practitioners, and also reduce the occurrence of prescription forgeries, while helping integrate prescription records into electronic medical records.</p> <p>While the ability to electronically prescribe controlled substances could be seen as a great boon to medical and pharma professionals, there are two key requirements that practitioners must meet prior to establishing an e-Prescription policy to ensure patients’ sensitive records are not comprised. </p> <p>In this presentation, Sheila Stromberg, director of Healthcare End-User Strategies at HID Global, will provide additional clarity on the key authentication requirements for e-prescribing controlled substances, and will examine the processes and technologies that need to be put into place to ensure the safety of sensitive patient information, including acceptable types of authentication methods. Sheila will also leverage her extensive experience with US Healthcare providers to provide valuable insights into many current trends and best practices in secure identity management for the healthcare field.</p> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-keywords field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Keywords:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><a href="/tags/epcs" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">EPCS</a></div><div class="field-item odd"><a href="/tags/e-prescriptions" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">e-Prescriptions</a></div><div class="field-item even"><a href="/tags/electronic-prescriptions" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">Electronic Prescriptions</a></div><div class="field-item odd"><a href="/tags/two-factor-authentication" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">Two-Factor Authentication</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-spfname field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker First Name:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Sheila</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-splname field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Last Name:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Stromberg</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-jobtitle field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Job Title:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Director of Healthcare End-User Strategies</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-company field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker&#039;s Company Name/Affiliation:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">HID Global</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-bio field-type-text-long field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Bio:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Sheila L.
