Driven by provider consolidation, government financial incentives, along with the adoption of collaborative care models like Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and the Patient Centered Medical Homes (PCMH), providers need more flexibility to support rapidly expanding access to data in clinical systems and scaling applications. Combine this with exponential expansion of data storage needs, and the need to create anytime, anywhere, any device access, and the factors that are increasing interest in cloud solutions in healthcare is already in place. With capital budgets tight, and IT staffs at provider organizations needing to focus on a series of upcoming new strategic initiatives it is easy to see how healthcare organizations can benefit from removing upfront software licensing fees, mitigating maintenance costs, overcoming departmental silos, improving collaboration and data sharing with referring physicians, - all with minimal downtime. Yet healthcare organizations still hesitate over concerns of privacy and security, and "losing control" of their data. This session will explore where the real opportunities are in cloud adoption in healthcare, the associated risks, and practical strategies for managing these to enable positive change. We will also discuss how vendors can stay competitive and fresh in this regulatory landscape and how they can meet the needs of large and small healthcare providers now and in the future.</p> <h3>Learning objectives: </h3> <ul><li>Learn strategies for driving improved outcomes through Meaningful Use</li> <li>Understand best practices for managing data in the cloud</li> <li>Discover add-on tools for improving clinical application functionality / collaboration</li> <li>Learn strategies for securing data</li> <li>Discuss strategies for securing mobile devices</li> </ul><p>Moderator:<br /> Greg Caressi, SVP of Healthcare &amp; Life Sciences, Frost &amp; Sullivan </p> <p>Panellists:<br /> Chris McNabb, General Manager, Dell Boomi<br /> David Houlding, Privacy &amp; Security Lead, Intel<br /> Alvin Lee, Global Life Sciences Cloud Offering Managing Consultant, IBM Global Business Services</p> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-keywords field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Keywords:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><a href="/tags/meaningful-use" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">Meaningful Use</a></div><div class="field-item odd"><a href="/taxonomy/term/253" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">data</a></div><div class="field-item even"><a href="/taxonomy/term/21" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">mobile</a></div><div class="field-item odd"><a href="/taxonomy/term/49" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">Cloud Security</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-spfname field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker First Name:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Greg</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-splname field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Last Name:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Caressi</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-jobtitle field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Job Title:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">SVP of Healthcare &amp; Life Sciences</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-company field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker&#039;s Company Name/Affiliation:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Frost &amp; Sullivan</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-bio field-type-text-long field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Bio:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Greg Caressi serves as the Senior Vice President of the Healthcare and Life Sciences practice at Frost &amp; Sullivan, where he has built and leads research, growth consulting, and sales and business development teams across Frost &amp; Sullivan’s programs covering Connected Health, Life Sciences, Advanced Medical Technologies.
