Businesses have recognized that they can obtain resources and services faster from external providers and IT departments have been powerless to stop this shift. Singer will cover the detailed findings of a Forrester-BMC cloud survey report which finds that 72% of CIOs admit that employees see cloud as a way to circumvent IT.</p> <p>In order to align their interests to the business, IT departments must support the usage of public clouds, or at least provide a public cloud-like experience to their users. Businesses feel that IT operations should be responsible for ensuring that public cloud services meet their firm’s requirements for performance, security, and availability. The tension lies in the fact that although IT is not delivering the services themselves, they are still responsible for delivering on expectations.</p> <p>The session will conclude with BMC’s approach to cloud planning for the IT departments who do, in fact, facilitate cloud services. Singer will speak to the goals that organizations should take when approaching cloud implementation, including:</p> <p>• Migrating with the right intentions<br /> • Separating customer-facing services from your internal ones<br /> • Tethering internal and external services to one executive<br /> • Starting with a shorter timeframe<br /> • Becoming independent from consultants free as soon as possible</p> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-keywords field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Keywords:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><a href="/taxonomy/term/4" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">cloud</a></div><div class="field-item odd"><a href="/taxonomy/term/517" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">IT Departments</a></div><div class="field-item even"><a href="/taxonomy/term/518" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">Cloud Planning</a></div><div class="field-item odd"><a href="/taxonomy/term/430" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">service providers</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-spfname field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker First Name:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Brian</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-splname field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Last Name:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Singer</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-jobtitle field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Job Title:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Lead Solutions Marketing Manager, Cloud Computing</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-company field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker&#039;s Company Name/Affiliation:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">BMC Software</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-bio field-type-text-long field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Bio:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Brian Singer is the lead solution marketing manager for cloud computing at BMC Software.
