However, it’s still unclear for most organizations how SaaS applications, such as Google Apps and Salesforce, protect their data. In this session, Jeff Erramouspe, CEO &amp; President, Spanning discusses how organizations can avoid SaaS data loss and minimize the risk of lost productivity, non-compliance and more, with cloud-to-cloud backup.</p> <p>Specifically, he’ll share:</p> <ul><li>Top 5 causes of SaaS application data loss</li> <li>Limitations of SaaS vendors in backup and recovery</li> <li>Real-life stories of companies that avoided data loss from hacking, human error and more</li> <li>Key requirements for effective cloud application backup and restore</li> </ul></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-keywords field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Keywords:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><a href="/tags/cloud-compliance" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">Cloud compliance</a></div><div class="field-item odd"><a href="/tags/saas-applications" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">SaaS applications</a></div><div class="field-item even"><a href="/taxonomy/term/331" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">Cloud Backup</a></div><div class="field-item odd"><a href="/taxonomy/term/310" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">CIO</a></div><div class="field-item even"><a href="/tags/data-protection" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">Data Protection</a></div><div class="field-item odd"><a href="/taxonomy/term/312" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">Enterprise</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-spfname field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker First Name:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Jeff</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-splname field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Last Name:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Erramouspe</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-jobtitle field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Job Title:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">CEO &amp; President</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-company field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker&#039;s Company Name/Affiliation:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Spanning</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-bio field-type-text-long field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Bio:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Jeff leads the Spanning team not just in the ways you’d expect – such as developing strategy, budgeting, and recruiting – but also by enabling great people to do their best work. This means setting goals that inspire excellence while eliminating obstacles to success. Prior to being appointed CEO and president, Jeff was Spanning’s chief revenue officer. Before that, he was president of Manticore Technology, which he led through three successive years of revenue growth in the highly competitive marketing automation market. He was founding CEO of Deepfile Corporation (became StoredIQ and sold to IBM in 2012), was VP of market development at Digby, and served as Vignette Corporation’s first VP of marketing. He started his career with NCR Corporation and also held senior management positions at Compaq Computer Corporation. Away from work, he loves to cook; it’s the perfect blend of planning, creativity, and gadgetry for a technology entrepreneur and CEO. Jeff holds a BA in management science from the University of California at San Diego. He has also served as an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship in the Graduate School of Business at the University of Texas.</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-headshot field-type-image field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker&#039;s Headshot Photo:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><img typeof="foaf:Image" src="http://cloudslam.org/sites/default/files/styles/round_180/public/Jeff.png?itok=PydhfC6b" width="172" height="172" alt="" /></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-postal field-type-text-long field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker&#039;s Postal Address:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">nn</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-room field-type-list-text field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">California Room</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-timeslot field-type-datetime field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><span class="date-display-single" property="dc:date" datatype="xsd:dateTime" content="2014-06-04T10:10:00-07:00">Wednesday, June 4, 2014 - 10:10</span></div></div></div> Thu, 15 May 2014 22:10:08 +0000 admin 806 at http://cloudslam.org Governance, Security and Compliance http://cloudslam.org/cloudcomputingconference/governance-security-and-compliance <div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>Cloud is finally starting to move beyond the hype and into the very fabric of today’s enterprise. Most organizations are adopting cloud computing in a piecemeal fashion with a growing trend towards moving core business functions into the cloud. However some organizations are holding out on adoption either because privacy, security or compliance seems like insurmountable barriers or they expect market maturity in terms of data management and management of multiple cloud providers.</p> <p>What cloud providers and consumers must recognize is that in order to reap the full benefits of cloud solutions, their adoption strategy must be aligned with a comprehensive risk management approach which looks beyond developing security policies, satisfying internal audits or contractual obligations. </p> <p>At KPMG, we believe this approach would include considerations such as,<br /> - Understanding the impact of cloud on compliance across operational jurisdictions<br /> - Establishing a governance model which identifies shared responsibilities, defines accountability metrics and provides customers insight into their service relationship<br /> - Periodically assessing and managing security and privacy practices<br /> - Collecting key success metrics and communicating this information to facilitate corporate governance and drive ultimate customer satisfaction.</p> <p>Organizations facilitating business transformation with the above fundamentals force and thereby change how security and privacy risks are perceived and addressed, which should greatly increase successful adoption of cloud solutions in support of business objectives.</p> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-keywords field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Keywords:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><a href="/tags/governance-model" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">Governance model</a></div><div class="field-item odd"><a href="/tags/cloud-compliance" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">Cloud compliance</a></div><div class="field-item even"><a href="/tags/continuous-security-monitoring" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel">Continuous security monitoring</a></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-spfname field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker First Name:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Shahed</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-splname field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Last Name:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Latif</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-jobtitle field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Job Title:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Partner, Advisory</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-company field-type-text field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker&#039;s Company Name/Affiliation:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">KPMG LLP</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-bio field-type-text-long field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Speaker Bio:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Shahed is the lead Information Security and Business Continuity principal for Western region and has extensive IT and business skills.
